requested project submissions back in April. They were offering $5,000, $10,000 and $20,000 grants. We worked on our proposal through May and June and there was never a doubt we were going for the $20K! We wanted a plan that would benefit our local Lowe’s Store and allow them to volunteer with us. So building something was important. Thank you Lowe’s Midtown our benefactor and partner! 
Bin There, Do That: Earth Friendly Choices for Recycling Green Waste is all about recycling things we don’t even think about – all of our raked leaves, lawn clippings and trimmings, kitchen scraps like fruit and vegetable peels, and even coffee grounds, paper filters, and shredded cardboard.
Working with our partners Mobile Urban Growers 
we identified community gardens that would love to compost and put back good soil into the gardens.

Our Garden Managers will be collecting data regarding the waste added to the bins and the compost removed as well as total hours delivering waste to the sites, taking temperature readings and the amount of compost created.
We hope to show how much waste can be kept out of the landfill and put back into our soil during the period Sept to the end of Nov.
